Description

Sherwin-Williams Floorcoating Resustat CP

Two pack low viscosity epoxy primer

Resustat CP is a two-pack low viscosity epoxy primer that contains a unique blend of resin and conductive fillers that create a resilient and attractive industrial floor. It is ideal for priming concrete and other substrates prior to the application of Resustat industrial resin flooring systems.

Resustat CP primer provides a fully conductive layer underneath Sherwin-Williams static-dissipative flooring systems to allow consistent earthing of electrical charge.
It has a conductivity of less than 0.050 M ohms when tested in accordance with BS EN 61340-4-1:2004+A1:2015.

Recoating can take place after 6-8 hours or once the surface has lost tackiness.

Light traffic will take between 18 – 24 hours, while full traffic areas will be 48 – 72 hours.

A full chemical cure will take around seven days.

Theoretical Coverage Rate is 21.7 m² @ 200 µm WFT for 5kg.

Full product data sheets and safety data sheets are available on request.

Product Benefits

  • Excellent adhesion
  • Conductive
  • Easy application
  • Where to use

Surface Preparation

New concrete must be clean, sound, dry, fully cured and surface laitance removed by vacuum enclosed shot blasting or mechanical grinding, a minimum strength of 25N/mm² is required.

For existing concrete floors, remove all dirt, oil, grease, old paint or any other surface contaminants by vacuum enclosed shot blasting, scarifying or mechanical grinding.
Fats, oils or greases must be removed by mechanical means and detergent washing and making sure all residue of detergent is washed and removed by rinsing with clean water.

Previously coated floors should have all existing coatings and loose floor paints removed by mechanical preparation and primed as specified. If the old resin flooring cannot be removed then please consult with our technical team for advice on intercoat adhesion and suitability, as it may not be compatible with the existing floor coating.

Where Resustat CP is applied to masonry/concrete surfaces, care must be taken to ensure that surface preparation is thorough but does not disfigure the surface.

Application

Mix the entire contents of the base with the hardener. If a separate mixing bucket is being used, mix thoroughly ensuring all contents of both components are removed from the buckets supplied.

Using a slow speed electric mixer, mix for approximately two to three minutes until the two components are fully combined.

The mixed unit should be applied immediately by roller, brush or squeegee with a consistent procedure.

Floor areas should be cross-rolled to ensure even application and to minimise roller marks.

Resustat CP should be applied over the top of a copper tape grid to aid the electrical earthing.

Application Conditions

The ambient temperatures of the areas should not be allowed to fall below 15°C throughout the application and the curing period, as this could have an adverse effect on the appearance and colour of the system.

Surface temperature must be above 10°C. Where possible, it is recommended that the application area is heated to a minimum temperature of 15°C.

Ideally to allow the ambient and substrate temperature to stabilise prior to the installation.

Light Traffic: 18 – 24 hours
Full Traffic: 48 – 72 hours
Full Chemical Cure 7 days
Pot Life: 25 – 30 minutes from mixing, based on 5 kg pack size. The pot life may be shorter for larger pack sizes if the paint is not used within the pot life limit. Note: All mixed paint must be used within the pot life time limit, if the paint is left in the container after mixing and not used, it may release hazardous fumes due to exothermic reaction.
Coverage Rate: (Theoretical) 5 kg will cover 21.7 m² @ 200 µm WFT*
System Thickness: (Recommended) 200 – 250 µm. The suggested thickness range is calculated based on average volume solid as a general recommendation for the specified condition and for each application may vary
*Coverage rate is calculated based on a sealed and smooth surface and may vary based on the substrate roughness and other conditions.
