Rustins Exterior Wood Stain is quick-drying, durable and ideal for exterior use on doors, windows, garden furniture, conservatories and sealant over concrete.
Gives long-lasting protection to all external wood and is touch dry within 30 minutes, re-coatable in four hours.
Low odour, resists cracking, peeling, blistering. Available in Light, Medium or Dark Oak, Mahogany, Teak, Walnut and Ebony.
During preparation, surfaces must be clean, dry and free of wax, grease and contaminants, smooth and sound. Wash oily woods, knots or resinous areas with white spirit. Remove mould, lichens, algae and moss with brush, scraper and domestic bleach, then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Rustins Wood Dye may be applied to bare wood prior to varnishing.
Using a synthetic brush, apply liberally with a full brush finishing with the grain. The first coat may be diluted with water on hot days (up to 15 per cent). Do not apply to hot surfaces or in strong sunlight if possible or if rain is likely.
Apply three coats and lightly sand after first coat if there is raising of the grain. Touch dry after just 30 minutes. On hot days may be touch dry within 10 minutes. Re-coating is possible after a minimum of four hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Ideally 15-25°C. Do not apply below 10°C, or in high humidity or if rain expected.
Coverage is 12-15 sq. metres per litre per coat, depending on absorbency of surface.

Maintenance: Re-coat every 2 to 3 years. Clean with a mild detergent solution and lightly sand to provide key.
Compatibility: May be applied over old existing coating if these are in good condition and rubbed down to provide a key. Coatings not in good condition should be removed with Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Stripper. If applying over wood preservatives test on a small area to ensure the varnish dries and adheres well.
Settlement: STIR WELL BEFORE USE. May dry glossy if not adequately stirred.
Shelf-life/Storage: Many years if stored in original, tightly closed container in normal conditions. PROTECT FROM FROST.
Hazards: Non-flammable. avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothes. A full Safety Data Sheet is available upon request or on www.rustins.co.uk Clean-Up: With water whilst still wet. If dried-on, clean equipment & brushes with Rustins Brush Restorer.
The Rsutins outdoor wood stain I ordered arrived quickly. It was easy to apply and gave good coverage. The tone of the oak finish is really nice. I would definitely recommend it.
Very easy to apply. Only needed 2 coats to get the finish I was looking for. It was easy to clean up the brushes afterwards too with it being water based. Excellent quality wood stain.
Rustins Wood Stain did a great job on our garden chairs and table. I had sanded them back to bare wood and used the medium oak wood stain on them to bring them back to life. It was easy to brush for me - and I really dont have much experience!
